The proposed rules amend the requirements for qualifying education (“QE”). Presently, licensees are only able to take seventy-five (75) hours of QE via distance education. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the increased usage and requirement of technology in a mostly remote environment, the Commission intends to amend the rules to allow licensees to take all QE classes via distance education. The education provisions for state licensed, certified residential, and certified general real estate appraisers have been updated to reflect this change. Lastly, an additional paragraph was added to the general provisions for course guidelines to reflect the Appraisal Qualifications Board’s (“AQB”) standards for QE distance education courses.
