Notice of Public Rulemaking Hearing:
Tennessee Real Estate Appraiser Commission

Pursuant to Tenn. Code Ann. § 4-3-1306(d), you are receiving this notice because you have elected to receive notification by e-mail of certain changes or potential changes to the law applicable to your profession.

The Tennessee Real Estate Appraiser Commission will be conducting a Rulemaking Hearing on Monday, October 21, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. This rulemaking hearing will be held at the following address:

500 James Robertson Parkway
Davy Crockett Tower, Conference Room 1B
Nashville, TN 37243

The rules allow applicants for state licensed, certified residential, and certified general real estate appraisers to complete certain qualifying education, specifically identified by the Commission via distance education. To accomplish this change, the rules remove the word “classroom” from the current rules as this has previously been interpreted by the Commission to exclude distance education.

Additionally, rules impact continuing education for licensees. The rules allow for no more than one-half (1/2) of real estate appraiser license, certificate, and registered trainee’s required continued education credits to be taken via distance education.

Lastly, the rules reduce the supervisory appraiser course from seven (7) hours to four (4) hours, and allow this course to be taken via distance education
