Limited Licensed Electrician (LLE)

About

The Limited Licensed Electrician (LLE) state license is only required by electricians performing work in a municipality utilizing the Division of Fire Prevention for permits, inspections and covers work less than $25,000 per project.

Always first check with local government to see if they accept the LLE or if they have a local licensing requirement for permits and inspections. The LLE license is issued to individuals passing the LLE trade exam.

The LLE license requirements is defined in T.C.A. § 62-6-102(d) and § 68-102-150.

Requirements

The following information is needed when applying for a Limited Licensed Electrician license:

  • Photo-ID and Social Secuirty Number
  • Exam (PSI is the exam vendor)
  • Completed Application
  • Fee of $50.00 for a two (2) year license

Fees

New limited licensed electrician license fees:  $50 (issued for 2 years)

Renewal limited licensed electrician license fees:  $50

Reinstatement of limited licensed electrician (expired more than 3 months) fees:  $80

Additional

Grace Period

The grace period for your license is 3 months. When you renew during the grace period, you are charged a late fee of $10 per month.

After the grace period, the licensee must complete the reinstatement application online.

Please be advised that incomplete applications submitted may result in your application being closed if defeciencies are not met within a 30 day timeframe.
